A very nice stage for a “top” weekend. Top like the reachable top of Monte Sasso del Ferro from a beautiful open gondola from which to admire a full view. At the top you can find a restaurant (and hotel) where you can have lunch or an aperitif.

From the top then, in good weather you can see Monte Campo dei Fiori, the lakes of the province, the Val Grande and the majestic chain of the Alps enjoying the magnificent spectacle offered by Monte Rosa.
For those who wish, it is possible to take a short trek to reach Pizzoni di Laveno; from Poggio Sant’Elsa, The path to follow is n. 8 with red signal. [ Source ]
From Laveno Mombello, one of the most evocative and picturesque tourist centers on the Lombardy side of Lake Maggiore, you climb gently with a system of comfortable two-seater open and closed telecabine, almost to the summit of Mount Sasso del Ferro (about 1.100 meters high ) from where you can admire, in the solemn silence of nature, a magnificent and enchanting view of Lake Maggiore, the Alps, the Prealps, the Lombardy lakes and the Po Valley.
The Monte Sasso del Ferro, due to its cool summer breeze and its mild winter temperature, is the ideal destination for pleasant trips and for peaceful weekends in the tranquility of the green woods.
The cable car ride takes 16 minutes. At the arrival station are available: Bar, Restaurant, Hotel, Shop of local products and souvenir items.
At the top there is also the launch point for hang-gliders and paragliders: one of the most appreciated by fans of these disciplines
