The first stop is on Monte Moro . Leave the car at the cable car parking in the city’s bracket (4 euros all day)
Starting from the village of Pecetto (1,414 m), you can reach the Alpe Burki (1,650 m) and then the Belvedere (2,000 m), (€ 13), a wonderful panoramic spot at the foot of the immense mountain wall. Pink. Source and more info.
Before getting on the top of the chairlift at any vantage point, I always suggest you take a look at the local webcam .
In the map I marked the main attractions, zoomed in to see them all.
The map of Monte Rosa is also indicated on the map. The TMR is a beautiful itinerary that crosses the villages around Monte Rosa, between Switzerland and Italy, with a circular route.
The Belvedere glacier is the only one on the Italian side of the Alps that is still expanding today. A really nice walk immersed in the snow-capped mountains.
More unlucky was my visit to Monte Moro, submerged by the fog (it was not possible to even ski but nobody warned us of the danger and we still paid handsomely for the 17 euro cable car)
During the winter it is possible to practice downhill skiing on the Macugnaga – Monte Rosa skiing area, which has 37 Km of downhill slopes, 20 km of cross country trails, a hockey field and an illuminated skating rink for nighttime openings.
During the summer, on the other hand, you can make excursions with the guides on Monte Rosaadmiring marmots, ibex and chamois. The more experienced can reach the Zamboni Zappa, Sella, Alpe Cicerwald or Alpe Lavanchetto refuges.
Finally, it is worth mentioning the Monte Rosa wildlife sanctuary, a protected area that extends from the Belvedere glacier to the peaks of the Rose and from which it is possible to admire chamois, ibex eagles and a rich variety of flora.
Another route not to be missed is that of Lake Fairies , a destination easily accessible in the summer with a walk of about 20 minutes.
