What to do, see and photograph in Malcesine

by Matilde

Malcesine is a beautiful village overlooking Lake Garda (part of the Veneto) and very picturesque with lots of glimpses to photograph if you are an enthusiast.

“Malcesine is  orange flag  of the Italian Touring Club, a brand of eco-environmental quality, and recognition of an offer of  excellence  and  hospitality  of  quality , for which the allocation and maintenance Touring examines the following areas: reception , receptivity and complementary services, factors of tourist attraction, environmental quality, structure and quality of the locality. “

Trekking

If you have time left and you want an easy trek you can follow the  panoramic walk to the Madonna dell’Accoglienza. (Malcesine – mule track of the Vacco – Madonna dell’Accoglienza – Dos del Pis – Val di Sogno – Malcesine)

The route is easy, very scenic and thanks to the low altitude it can be traveled all year round. (find out here)

“The route is 9 kilometers on asphalt, mule track and paths. This climbs up to 330 meters above sea level in 2.5 km, descends until you reach the bay of Val di Sogno and you return to Malcesine walking on the plains on the Lungolago. . “

Alternatively you can get to the Telegrafo G.Barana Refuge on Monte Baldo.

Photographic opportunities in Malcesine

If you arrive from the north and you head towards Malcesine you will not immediately find the castle; in fact, you will have to move even further to reach the “classic landscape” of the photos. Among the most interesting photographic opportunities in Malcesine we have therefore the Scaliger Castle and the  Palazzo dei Capitani  in which there is the beautiful lake view garden, as well as the adjacent small port .

Where to eat in Malcesine

There are restaurants before the marina that seem to offer good food. Personally, however, I stopped in the restaurant adjacent to the Palazzo dei Capitani which is located directly on the lake and offers a very nice view. The kitchen is average and prices are about 11 euros for a first and 2.50 euros a glass of wine (of the house).

Visit of the village

Walking through the narrow streets of the village is easy as the road is straight (a bit ‘uphill) and you can find bars and restaurants along the way. The city is very animated in the period from June to July as it is assaulted by foreigners, especially Germans. You can park easily leaving the car in the large and free parking at the beginning of the city! (near the shore of the lake and before the castle, facing us in the distance)

Finally, where to stay in Malcesine?

Where to sleep in Malcesine

If you like infinity pools you will surely find beautiful  Garden and  Residence Sporting hotels.

The choice is certainly very wide as hotels are not lacking!
