Boghetto is one of the most beautiful villages in Italy – Located near Valeggio sul Mincio, it is characterized by the river which, crossing it, makes it seem almost like a small Venice.
I spent a couple of hours more than a day at Borghetto; the village is very small and can also be visited in 10 minutes but to appreciate it you must definitely enter the various restaurants and bars overlooking the Mincio!
It was built by order of Gian Galeazzo Visconti, Duke of Milan, between 1393 and 1395 and was once connected to the castle by high crenellated walls.
You arrive here crossing the Visconteo bridge and you will discover a tiny village located on the river Mincio , a perfect place for a romantic getaway and to take pictures of an Italy that has already passed through many other places: stone houses, old water mills , the view on the melancholic ruins of the medieval bridge and the castle that appears among the trees on the hill.
Curiosity: heading towards the Castello Scaligero you can make a very special meeting. A pet pig behind a gate accompanied by a sign “do not feed the pig.”
There is also here the Spritz : alcoholic aperitif formed by the mixture of aperol, dry white wine and soda. You can enter one of the bars that offer a view of the river to be overhanging with a very special view. Prices are around 4 euros for a drink or something more for those more special.
Nearby..
Also in the vicinity there are the beautiful Morenic Hills of Garda! A place not as well known as the other hills but equally full of opportunities. We will know this place in the next articles!
You can also make a stop at the Parco Giardino Sigurtà
